Here again, the a7S is pushing the envelope with its intra-frame recording capabilities (All-I). Intra-frame allows 4K recording bitrates up to 1200 Mbps*, leaving extra margin for post-production or when still image extraction is desired.

Knowing today's delivery requirements can dictate the need to comply with reduced bitrate codecs, Sony included the ability to record in MPEG-H HEVC/H.265 (XAVC HS™) which means you can deliver more detailed content at higher bitrates while still delivering files with a manageable data volume. The a7S' MPEG-H HEVC/H.265 yields approximately twice the efficiency of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264.
