Featuring six interchangeable, easily swappable mic capsules (check below to see which ones are, and aren’t, included in the box). The included X/Y capsule uses two angled unidirectional mics that are great at picking up signals from the front but are less sensitive to signals coming from the back and sides, making X/Y recording ideal for when you want to cover a wide area but retain a strong center image. The MS (Mid-Side) capsule employs two mic elements: a forward-facing, unidirectional mic, and a side-facing bi-directional mic. Combined with the H6’s MS decoder, they capture a mono-compatible stereo image that can be adjusted after recording—perfect for video, film, and TV applications. The XYH-5 X/Y is housed within a substantial shock mount, which minimizes vibration, and allows it to handle extremely loud sounds: 140 dB SPL as a matter of fact—the sound of a jet engine only 200 feet away! The optional SGH-6 Shotgun capsule gives you the directional pickup power of a regularly-sized shotgun mic in a unit only half the size. The EXH-6 Dual XLR/TS Combo gives you two more imputs for a total of six. And the SSH-6 Stereo Shotgun picks up both the speaker and ambient noise from the scene with its secondary bi-directional capsule.
