Product Overview

A professional high-precision 24-channel USB audio interface, the Babyface Pro FS captures studio-quality audio so precise you have to hear it to believe it.

The RME full SteadyClock FS circuit ensures the conversion from analog to digital and back is done with the precision that results in the lowest jitter and highest jitter immunity. Jitter is the difference in timing between analog and digital sounds when they are being converted. When that timing is off, a form of distortion is created at both ends of the conversion. The SteadyClock in the Babyface Pro FS helps to optimize recordings and mixes giving the soundstage more depth, clarity, and realism.

Constructed from a block of aluminum, the Babyface is tough and compact but still has room for 12 inputs and 12 outputs (I/O). You'll get XLR, 1/4", and optical I/O, as well as MIDI in/out and two headphone outputs. The headphone outputs each have separate driver stages to match low or high impedance headphones, so you always hear what you expect.

The microphone preamps have an exceptional 76 dB gain range adjustable in 1 dB steps, and they feature switchable +48V phantom power per channel for your condenser mics. And when you're recording through those preamps, you'll need to monitor what's being recorded. With Babyface you'll hear it all with the lowest latency available. 5 samples going in and 7 samples coming out, so you can track annoyance free.

RME has included TotalMix FX, a fully functional 288-channel mixer with effects and processing, 3-band EQ, low-cut filter, reverb, and echo available per track. All of this at a 46-bit internal resolution. Plus, you also get TotalMix Remote to control your babyface over a network, and DigiCheck software, the ultimate measurement and analysis tool.

And to top it off, REM has included a premium plugin bundle along with USB-2 and USB-C cables so your ready for full production straight out of the box.

Immaculate sound, expansive I/O, affordable. This is the one you want, the RME Babyface Pro Fs.

Includes

  • USB-2 and USB-C cables
  • Premium plug-in bundle:
    • Scuffham S-Gear
    • Brainworx bx_opto
    • Brainworx bx_masterdesk
    • Trial versions of Modartt Pianoteq 6, GG Audio Blue 3 Organ, and Gig Performer

Features

  • 2 XLR inputs, 2 XLR outputs
  • 2 unbalanced 1/4" inputs
  • ADAT (8) / SPDIF (2) optical I/O
  • MIDI I/O
  • 2 headphone outputs, one 1/4", one 1/8"
  • +19 / +4 dBu switch on the bottom adds a direct way to reduce the output level, thus improves SNR for sensitive active monitors, avoids distortion / overload, and helps to keep TotalMix FX faders near 0 dB instead of high attenuations.
  • Full SteadyClock FS circuit as in the ADI-2 Pro FS for lowest jitter and highest jitter immunity.
  • 3.5 mm TRS phones output power rises from 70 mW to 90 mW. THD of both phones outputs improved by up to 10 dB. Uses same output op-amps as ADI-2 Pro now. Output impedance of 3.5 mm TRS lowered from 2 Ohms to 0.1 Ohms.
  • Mic inputs SNR improved from 112.2 dB to 113.7 dB, TRS Line inputs SNR improved from 114 dB to 116.3 dB (120 dBA). THD Line inputs improved by 8 dB.
  • 6 samples less latency on the AD side by new ADC (5 samples AD, 7 samples DA. It won't get quicker...).
  • All the above improvements were achieved without raising the units power consumption.
  • K-slot for theft protection
